3 High-Tech Firms Win NCC’s 2023 Hackthon Contest + PHOTOS}{ The Scoper Media

NCC hackathon -

    Three high-tech firms, Kno How Limited, Solaris Green Tech Hub and Spex Care Limited, have emerged the winner of this year’s Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC’s) 2023 Talent Hunt Search Through Hackthon with a N10 million prize money each.

The hachthon which was in three categories had no fewer y81 entries in which 12 were shortlisted to participate in the tech innovative contest.

Out of the 12 shortlisted, the three firms emerged winners from the three thematic focus that include Blockchain Enabled Data Protection Solution for Enhancing Regulatory Compliance; Assistive Technology Solutions for Elderly and People With Disabilities and Technology Solutions for Renewable Energy In Rural Areas.

Apart from the three winners, who went home with N10 million each, the remaining nine innovators fro the 12 were each given N500,000 with a certificate of commendation for their participation.

In his welcome address at the occasion, NCC’s Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Ubale Maska, spoke about the importance of the hackthon contest, saying it aligns perfectly with one of the core objectives of NCC’s Strategic Vision Plan (SVP) for the year 2023 to 2025.

Maska said NCC’s primary aim is to foster the development of cutting-edge technologies through rigorous research thereby catalysing economic growth and development.

He said events like this serves as instrumental tools in sustaining innovation and help in mobilising the collective intelligence to tackle pressing real-world issues.

Maska added that the hackthon competitions being promoted are with thematic focus that are aimed at addressing significant challenges within the telecommunications industry and society at large.

Delivering his keynote address at the event, NCC’s Director of Research and Development, Alhaji Ismail Adedigba,congratulated the winner’s and innovators that were shortlisted to participate in the highly competitive project.

He said he was convinced that such innovative hackthon, if held regularly, offers invaluable opportunities to unearth and adapt new technologies that will equip the society to effectively navigate the ever-evolving landscape and surmount current and future challenges facing the industry and the larger society.
