The Nigeria Police Force mourns the loss of a revered figure, CP Jatau S. Anga (Rtd). A distinguished statesman and former Commissioner of Police, Anga’s legacy of service and dedication to the nation will be remembered with deep respect and admiration. His passing marks the end of an era, leaving behind a profound impact on the law enforcement community and the country at large.
Born in October 1941, CP Anga had an illustrious career spanning over three decades, serving in various capacities such as commandant mounted training school, Bukuru, OC Mounted Establishment Unit, Jos, Staff Officer in charge Mounted Establishment FHQ, Lagos and other distinguished Nigerian police units culminating in his appointment as Commissioner of Police and Military Administrator in charge of Enugu State Command (1992-1994). He was also an administrator, International First Aid Society (September 1994), Chairman, Administrative Panel of Inquiry into the community clash between Mangu and Bokkos communities, Plateau State (1996) and member, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Board, Abuja (March 2001)
Until his passing, CP Anga held the esteemed titles of Galadiman Eggon and Chairman of the Eggon Council of Elders in Nasarawa State. A man of varied passions, he was deeply involved in horse riding and polo, showcasing his love for the equestrian arts. His athletic spirit extended to squash, badminton, and trekking, where he embraced the challenges of each sport. In quieter moments, he found solace in reading, immersing himself in the world of books. CP Anga’s life was a blend of leadership, athleticism, and intellectual curiosity, leaving a lasting legacy in his community.
CP Anga, a decorated hero who was honored with both the National Service Republic and General Service Medal, leaves behind a legacy of unwavering dedication to his country. His memory lives on through his loving wife and children, who proudly carry forward his commitment to national service.
With a heavy heart, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul. His journey has come to an end, and now he rests in peace. The echoes of his life resonate in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy lives on, a testament to a life well-lived, and his memory remains a beacon of inspiration and a source of comfort. May his spirit find eternal tranquility, and may the stories of his kindness and strength continue to bless us all.
