Association for Childhood Education Practitioners (ACEP) has donated books to School Library.
The event also mark the lnternational Day of Education . Hajia Islamiat Olaitan Oshodi,ACEP National President, speaking
to children and teachers at Bola Memorial School lkeja Lagos. Said the event theme titled ” lnvest in People, lnvest in Education” is appropriate hence ACEP is investing on children and to promote the reading culture in Nigeria.
This is one of ACEP projects this year,” We shall be visiting and donate books to more schools in Lagos state-Oshodi disclosed
The collection of books includes fiction and non fiction books,Science books Mathematics, English textbooks, history, social studies, civil education books inspirational and motivational books, drawing textbooks, phonics textbooks among others.
Oshodi observed that globally, schools and NGOs strongly celebrate lnternational Day of Education and other schools programmes to boost the academy sector. Adding that such celebrations make students more confident, well grounded and globally competitive.”
She appealed to stakeholders, NGOs to join government to cater for out – of – school children in the community and using educational programmes. EShe recalled that ,in last year commemoration of Universal Children’s Day, ACEP Nigeria, UNIC Lagos, and SUBEB, invited scholars from all over Nigeria in Primary schools (Basic 4-6) and Secondary schools (JSS1-3) to partticipate on ACEP-Climate Challenge on SDG 13 Climate Action.The best-selected write-ups were launched on November 22nd, 2022.Today, “we have some of these books titled Presentation of Climate Change Hero Series l, donated to your school library.
Oshodi concluded by appreciating Governor Babajide Sanwo -Olu and predecessor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for supporting modern day education in Lagos State starting from the millennium schools Era and other educational projects till date.
Speaking on behalf the School, Mrs Sipeolu Cecilia Olubukola, Headmistress, appreciated ACEP’ for providing these expensive books for students and school Library.
She also thanked the three different NGOs who have helped with the transformation of school by painting of school and provide water and bore -hole for the school recently. She appealed to relevant authorities and community leaders to provide electricity for the school.
Mrs Kemi Anifowose, School Support Services LGEA lkeja said the Lagos state government is passionately educating children and students, “Leave No Child Behind” . We treat the children with respect and great care regardless of gender,tribe and disabilities.
We should ensure they use the library judiciously and great leaders of tomorrow.
She appreciated ACEP for their activities in all the schools in the state.
