…Ogunsan hails him on his momentous stride
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Fayoade Mustapha Adegoke yesterday resumed duty as the 32nd Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command headquarters, Onikan – Lagos, taking over duty from AIG Olatoye Durosinmi who retired on the 19th day of August 2024, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
AIG Adegoke Fayoade who hails from Ila-Orangun in Ila LGA, Osun State was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 18th May, 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Lagos, a Diploma in Political Science, LLB (Hons) from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and a Master Degree in Public Administration also from the University of Lagos.
Speaking at his assumption of office, the seasoned Police officer, a strategist and crime fighter who has served the Force meritoriously in various capacities, Fayoade stated that his coming is to ensure that crime and criminality is reduced to the barest minimum in Lagos and Ogun States.
His words, ‘I appreciate the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for posting me to this Zone. I see it as a challenge to add quality to the security situation in both Lagos and Ogun States and improve on it. With the efforts of the Commissioners of Police in both states, we will ensure these areas remain crime-free.’
‘My coming here is to ensure that criminal activities are brought down in these areas. We will collaborate with the Police and, most importantly, the public to build trust. We will be accountable to the public and make them feel assured with the presence of the police in their communities’, he stated.
He assured that criminals will be brought to book. ‘We haven’t rested and are still gathering intelligence on the unresolved kidnapping cases. Notwithstanding my promotion, we remain focused on these investigations,’ he said.
The newly appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, comprising Lagos and Ogun States highlighted the significant role of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in bridging the gap between the police and the public. ‘The PCRC has been assisting the police in mobilizing public support and acting as a bridge between the police and the public. In Zone 2, I will work with the PCRC to ensure policing is elevated and the public is brought closer to the police to achieve better results’, NAOSNP can report.
Celebrating the new Zone 2 AIG on his role, the Board Member of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan encouraged him to promote values within the top echelon and rank and file of the Police in the Zone. ‘It is an impressive honour to be physically present as our new Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 2 resumes office. This is a momentous stride by AIG Adegoke Fayoade for which I am very happy.’
‘This is a big responsibility. I charge him to build camaraderie and discipline among the officers and men under his Command. The people of Lagos and Ogun States desire a crime-free society, he should work towards it. I wish him well’, Ogunsan remarked in his chat with NAOSNP at the command.

He is married to Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade and blessed with children.l
