Protocol:-
I am honoured to receive this award of the fellowship of the Capital Market Academics
Of Nigeria. It is gratifying that our little efforts in the NGX Group and the Capital Market in general are noted and recognised by bodies like CMAN.
This award serves as motivation for us to do more to move the capital market to achieve its potential as a key factor for economic development and financial inclusion.
Let me also say that this award is even more edifying given the calibre of my fellow awardees.
Dr. Ndanusa and Mallam Lamido Yuguda are former Directors General of the Securities and Exchange Commission and my mentors. Senators Osita and Abiru, as well as Honourable Suleiman Bob head important legislative committees that formulate the laws and policies that guide our market .
Professors Mamman and Mainoma are distinguished academics who have made laudable contributions to the nation and its capital market. I thank the Capital Market Academics of Nigeria for rewarding excellence across various spectrums of the market.
My special appreciation also goes to the Chairman of SEC, Malam Mairiga Aliyu Katuka; SEC Executive Commissioner Legal, Mrs Frana Chukwuogor; Hon (Barr) Victor Muruako, Chairman Fiscal Responsibility Commission; Dr Ibrahim Natagwandu Special Adviser to the President on Public Debt; and Prof Usman Shu’aib, Member CBN Financial Regulation Advisory Council of Experts, I say a very big thank you all.
CMAN is a relatively young body but it has been making significant impact through the commitment, hardwork and brilliance of its members, especially its erudite President, Professor Uche Uwaleke who lives and breathes capital market. I urge you all to keep up the good work as you have an important part to play in documentation, research and guidance of the capital market.
Once again, thank you very much.
Alh (Dr) Umaru Kwairanga
Chairman
NGX Group.
