A non -governmental organisation, Auntlanda Bethel foundation has advised Youths to empower themselves with vocational skills, entrepreneurship and educational programme to promote creativity and productivity.
Dr Yolanda George David, founder, made the call at 1 day training organized by Aunt Landa’s free Tertiary Academy workshop held in CPM lnternational Egbe Lagos.
She added that such skills would reengineer Nigeria’s economic situation and reposition the country despite economy downturn.She therefore urged the youth to get involved in entrepreneurship empowerment programmes of their interest.
The training which include Catering, Hair making, Soapmaking & Perfume making, Gele and Turban making, Digital marketing training, Photo album & Photo book and Adult Education.
She emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship education and empowerment, challenges facing entrepreneurship and such skills will liberate them from poverty.
Dr Yolanda George David taught the participants Gele and Turban tying and digital marketing, she emphasized on how they can have several sources of income not depending on a single income. Other resource persons were Deborah Eniola taught the participants on Primary and Adult Educationn, Cynthia Nwaje took them on hairmaking and wig -making among others.
Speaking to one of the beneficiaries , Mr Peter Uche added that since the wheel of development of any country can be promised on youths’ creativity, parents, teachers as well as the government, are obliged to ensure that youths are empowered with skills, and knowledge and that would make them become self-reliant and job creators.
According to him, to move the nation forward, he strongly advocated curriculum review, sensitization, advocacy and mobilization of support for entrepreneurship education and funding.
He appreciated the foundation for the empowerment gesture and urged government and stakeholders to support the masses.
The highpoint of the event were graduation ceremony for qualified students, certificate for participants,food stuff were also given to participants.
