Avoid Sensationalism, Unbalance Stories In Your News Reportage – AIG FCID Annex Lagos Urges Media : The Scoper Media

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG in charge of Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, AIG Ogundele Ayodeji has hinted that he has been a victim of sensational and fake stories in his line of duty as the media ‘overblown the story’ simply to grab the attention of the public. This is why he advocates that the press reports issues in the true manner that they obtained the information.

He made this known during the courtesy visit of the National Association of Online Security News Publishers NAOSNP to his office in Alagbon, Lagos.

AIG Ogundele Ayodeji who resumed office at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID Lagos Annex Alagbon few three months ago stated that ‘a lot of time, some journalists like to add certain things to stories, so that the story can get sensational, so that the story will attract attention in a way, to add what is not to color the story. There was an incident when I was CP that the way the media reported it was not good enough. You know, to draw the attention of the public, they overblown the story so the motive behind the story was very wrong.

The journalist knew that what he did was very wrong but he didn’t even bother. He just went ahead.’
‘I want to advocate that you should not add to what the person did not say and don’t add to what you did not see’, he said.

Nevertheless, the former AIG in charge of Zone 7 (Abuja FCT and Niger state) thanked the media for the good work that they have been doing to support security and make the nation a better place. ‘I appreciate the visit of the National Association of Online Security News Publishers for what they’ve been doing for the Nigeria Police Force while noting that there’s still more to be done in terms of helping to report properly.

The NAOSNP President, Oki Samson used the visit to commend the Force CID Annex Lagos PPRO, ASP Aminat Mayegun for proper dissemination of news information as needed. She attends to the media promptly and relates information of the activities of the FCID Annex regularly. She is always available to attend to the press.

He then presented a Certificate of Credence to the AIG for the good work, and for his professionalism, tactical criminal investigation style, and operational leadership.
Since his assumption as AIG in charge of Force CID Annex Alagbon, AIG Ogundele Ayodeji has recorded a series of achievements which includes crimes busted, criminal investigation which he didn’t make noise about. He noted that he doesn’t like unnecessary publicity, however, he has got a lot of commendations from stakeholders.

AIG Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji was born to the family of late Pa. and Mrs. Gabriel Ajibade Ogundele in Oyo Town, Oyo West LGA of Oyo State. He holds a B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Political Science from the University of Ibadan in 1985 and 1988 respectively.
He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP on March 3rd, 1990.
He has served in various capacities within the Force, but not limited to the following: he served as Patrol and Guards, DCO, and DPO in various Divisions in Anambra and Abia States respectively; he was equally O/C SARS Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia 2001 – 2003; he was the Commander, of Nigeria’s Contingent on Peace Keeping to the Republic of Croatia 1997-1998; and 2i/c Area Commander, Onitsha Area Command 1998.

He was the Directing Staff, Police Staff College Jos 2012 – 2015; AC Operations, Zone 12 Headquarters, Bauchi 2015; Area Commander, Omu-Aran Area Command, Kwara State 2015 – 2017; AC SCID Minna, Niger State 2017; Area Commander, Kontagora Area Command, Niger State 2017 – 2018; DC Admin, Zone-12 Headquarters, Bauchi 2018; DC General Investigation, FCID Annex, Lagos 2018 – 2022, and DC Operations, Zone-10 Sokoto State 2022.

Upon promotion to the CP rank, AIG Ogundele became CP Admin, DFA FHQ Abuja, May – Oct., 2022; Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command from October 2022 to October 2023; and recently was AIG Zone 7 Abuja (comprising Abuja FCT and Niger state)
AIG Ogundele Ayodeji Joshua attended several professional courses, seminars, and workshops, some of which include: the Intermediate Command Course, Community Policing Course, Tactical Leadership Command Course, and Senior Command Course respectively. The AIG is a recipient of many certificates of commendation and Awards for bravery, hard work, and selfless service.

He loves reading, sports, and traveling. He is happily married and blessed with wonderful children.
