Fast -rising Nigerian music artist Joel Joseph Sunny known professionally as BOY MYND is a contemporary Afrobeat artist and songwriter from Ogoni, Eleme local government Rivers State.
Recently he step out with his new single “Pull Out” available on all streaming platforms. Although, l don’t have a record label or Management for now,
describing my music”I call my own genre Afro-mind because its my feelings and what I have experienced in life while growing.My music also showcases stories about love life and relationships”
“Recalled BOY MYND started music from being a choir in church. In 2009, he led his fellow students in a cultural performance at the opening ceremony of Community Primary School Adeba.
His mentor is the Legendary Olamide. His growth in the music industry is his biggest motivation that with hardwork and consistency, determination one can be great. In addition to my wish to play music with the Legendary Olamide. He also desire to work with other Nigerian popular musicians the likes of Seyivibez, Fire boy, Crayon, Asake, BlaqboneZ, Tems, Fave and some of my upcoming friends.
Born in Jakande, llasan Lekki but grew up in Adeba lbeju Lekki Lagos. I attended Adeba Community Primary School Adeba, before proceeding to Iwerekun Community Senior High School and attended National Open University where he studied Accounting but was unable to continue due to financial challenges. I decided to face my childhood passion and dream Music. l shall be back to complete my education soon.
Growing up and being a lover of music from my early age, l listened to evergreen songs from some legends the likes of Fela, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Majek Fashek, Daddy showkey,2pac, Orlando Owoh and the rest. My Foreign artiste and my role model is Lil Wayne and Nigerian role model is Olamide Artiste.
Meanwhile, I want to collaborate with Fireboy ,Seyi Vibez, Joe boy, Yemi Alade, Simi and many others while lnternationally, are J.Cole, Rodwave, Polo G and some South African artistes.
Currently, l work as a personal assistant to Kelly lgberhi popularly known as Kellyblind, the only blind comedian in Africa and an advocate for person living with disability.
In 10th February 2022 he recorded his first song as a recording artist. July 21th 2023 he released his first single Titled “Pull Out” which is available on all official platforms.
I have performed at Ajebo unleashed 10th Anniversary at Eko Hotel Lagos. I have also performed at Kelly Blind again (comedy and Music event ) last year. posting content relating to my new released song Pull Out.
“As an independent artiste is not easy to scale through the music business but l keep pushing on.
“I relax by listening to different genres of music to boost my creative knowledge and I also read novels and watch motivational videos.”
“My philosophy of life is, In this life we come and we go, but what impact or legacy are you leaving in people’s heart?. The best gift to humanity is investing on people’s life positively.”
However, I don’t get gigs often cause I am new to the business but with hard work and consistency I hope to be on every main stage, Arenas and stadiums. I hope that one day l will be a big export of afrobeat and one of my dream is owning a Foundation to cater for the less privileged in future.
But I look forward to having a project where all Afrobeat legends will be featured that will be a big one for me and the culture. With God all things are possible.
