At least nineteen people were killed and six others were injured when a bus fell into a canal in northern Egypt on Saturday, November 12, the Health Ministry said.
According to Egyptian news outlet El-Watan a a malfunctioning steering wheel caused the minibus crashed into the Al-Riyah Al-Tawfiqi canal, while on route from the city of Mit Ghamr to Mansoura.
Footage livestreamed on Facebook by local news outlet Aga News shows a crowd gathered around the damaged minibus near the canal. “Some of the family members of the victims are calling their children and their loved ones, but don’t know whether they’re alive, injured, dead, or were even on the bus”, the reporter says.
