...As NCCSC Marks Milestone with Graduation of 100 Officers from Senior and Junior Programs
On Monday, December 16, 2024, the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC) in Gwagwalada celebrated the graduation of 100 officers from Senior Course 11 and Junior Course 20. The ceremony was graced by the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, Hon. Leke Abejide, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.
In their speeches, both dignitaries underscored the vital role of professionalism in the customs service. CGC Adeniyi praised the graduates for their dedication throughout the rigorous six-month training program. He urged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), emphasizing the importance of discipline, integrity, and the application of their newly acquired skills. Adeniyi further stressed that the graduates’ enhanced capabilities would be pivotal in strengthening border security, combating smuggling, and boosting the nation’s revenue generation efforts.
Hon. Leke Abejide, in his address, congratulated the graduates for successfully completing the challenging training program, highlighting it as the foundation for the professionalism needed to excel in their roles. He urged the officers to embrace the newly enacted Customs Act of 2023 and stressed the importance of continuous learning and unwavering dedication to their duties.
Meanwhile, Acting Assistant Comptroller-General (Ag. ACG) Oluyomi Adebakin, the Commandant of the College, formally conferred the titles of Pass Senior Course (PSC) and Pass Junior Staff Course (PJSC) on the graduates. She commended their resilience throughout the course and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, leadership, and discipline as they resumed their responsibilities across various postings.
Chief Superintendent of Customs, Abdullahi Ibrahim, one of the distinguished graduates, commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its visionary focus on capacity building. He highlighted key lessons learned during the training, including discipline, the harmonization of customs procedures, and the ability to perform under pressure. Ibrahim expressed gratitude to CGC Adeniyi and his leadership team, as well as to former Commandant ACG Kingsley Egwu, current Commandant Ag. ACG Oluyomi Adebakin, and all the directing staff for their invaluable contributions to the knowledge and skills gained by him and his fellow officers.
The graduation ceremony was preceded by a traditional regimental dinner on December 12, 2024, a hallmark of the College’s long-standing customs. During the dinner, CGC Adeniyi emphasized the significance of discipline, camaraderie, and teamwork, urging the graduates to carry these values into their service for the nation.
