The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) and the National Council for Islamic Youth Organisation (NACOMYO), have appealed to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other secessionist groups in the country to end their agitations.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, they stressed the need to end the killings across the country, insisting that the youths should explore dialogue in resolving the challenges facing Nigeria.
President of YOWICAN, Belusochukwu Enwere, disclosed that the groups would organise a national peace youth summit so that those agitations would be sufficiently tackled.
On his part, National President of NACOMYO, Sani Suleiman, who noted that journey to Nigeria’s 61st independent anniversary came with difficulties, urged politicians across party divides, to begin engaging the youths at the grassroots levels on the consequences of violence.
Chairman, Planning Committee of the summit, Adegbegi Emmanuel, stated that the outcome of the meeting would be sent to President Muhammadu Buhari for consideration and implementation.
Adegbegi disclosed that the event would hold in the second week of November, adding that it was the first of its kind in Nigeria designed to create an all-inclusive and interactive platform anchored by youths in the country.
