A drunk Corporal of the Nigerian Army identified as Cpl Abayomi Ebun has knocked down a Brigadier General O.A James inside the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, Lagos.
The incident which happened on Tuesday night led to the death of the officer who is said to be the Director of Finance unit of the centre.
According to militarynewsng.com, Corporal Abayomi Ebun, a soldier residing inside the Old barrack of the NAFRC in Lagos, was said to be spotted earlier driving recklessly inside the barrack before the incident.
A witness explained that Brigadier General James who was the Director of Finance at the centre, was said to be walking to his residence inside the barrack when he was knocked down by the soldier with an SUV Toyota Highlander with registration number: Lagos EKY 177 FX.
However, it was not immediately known whether the car belongs to the soldier or where he got himself drunk to stupor.
It was, however, learnt that the Brigadier General was confirmed dead at the Medical Centre, NAFRC, where he was immediately rushed to after being knocked down by the soldier.
Until his death, Brigadier General James was a senior member of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps. He had bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Accounting as well as a Master of Business Administration in Finance.
He was a fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and held memberships of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Nigerian Institute of Directors (MIoD), Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACTI), and the National Institute (mni)
