Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has restated his commitment to ensuring that Muslims in Ekiti get adequate and fair representation in his cabinet as he plans to constitute one very soon .
The Governor, who made this known on Sunday while receiving the leadership of National Council of Muslim Youths Organization (NACOMYO) led by its Coordinator Mudairu Yusuf, at his Ikogosi- Ekiti country home, appreciated the Muslim youths for coming to celebrate the Easter festivities with him.
The Governor said the cordial relationship that exist between the Muslim and Christian faithfuls in the state remains a source of joy for him, adding he would ensure that only true Muslims were appointed into his cabinet to represent their interest.
While appreciating the Muslim community for their support during and after the election, the Governor assured them that he would not disappoint them or take the confidence reposed in him for granted.
“I don’t know how to express my appreciation to you, as I walked in, one thing that crossed my mind is that we are celebrating Easter and these are my Muslim brothers coming to celebrate with me. I can’t but thank God for your lives and also thank you for your support.
“I keep remembering our first meeting, it was stormy and at the end of the day when we resolved, you gave me your words that you will go out and work for my candidacy, and the kind of mobilization I got from the Muslim Community towards my election was massive and I made certain promises to you that we are going to run this government together and am reconfirming that promise to you today.
“I am conscious of what you said, my brother about the issue of marginalization, we will try our possible best and you can see that the few we have done, we have tried our best to ensure that the Muslim community is well represented.
“I will continue to identify with you and all the promise I made to you by His grace, I will fulfil them”. The Governor asserted
Earlier in his remarks, the State Co-ordinator of NACOMYO Mudairu Yusuf said the purpose of their visit was to felicitate the Governor on Easter celebrations and to congratulate him on his victory at the Supreme Court which reaffirmed his election as the Governor of Ekiti State.
He described the victory as divine and a reflection of the collective wishes of the good people of Ekiti State.
He prayed for a successful and impactful tenure for the Governor, even as he admitted that his administration had started putting smiles on the faces of the people through some of his development studies.
