ENHANCING SERVICE DELIVERY: LAWMA Debuts ‘Know Your PSP’ Campaign 🎊 The Scoper Media

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has unveiled the “Know Your PSP” campaign, a dynamic initiative designed to enhance the relationship between residents and Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators, who are responsible for waste collection. This campaign aims to foster better communication and cooperation, ensuring a cleaner and more efficient waste management system in Lagos. By bridging the gap between the community and waste collectors, LAWMA hopes to promote environmental responsibility and streamline waste collection processes across the city.

Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the managing director and CEO of LAWMA, announced a new campaign focused on enhancing waste management practices across the state. This initiative aims to equip residents with comprehensive details about their designated PSP operators, enabling easier contact for reporting issues and requesting additional services. Dr. Gbadegesin emphasized that this effort is designed to foster better communication and efficiency in waste management, ultimately benefiting the entire community.

He emphasized the importance of the ‘Know Your PSP’ campaign, highlighting it as a pivotal initiative in Lagos State’s continuous journey toward better waste management.

Empowering residents with information about their PSP operators and providing contact details is a significant step toward a cleaner city. This initiative aims to foster collaboration, improve service delivery, and ensure accountability and responsiveness from PSP operators

Gbadegesin stated that LAWMA has established dedicated helplines and online platforms for residents to easily access information about their designated PSP operators, report issues, and provide feedback. He added that this initiative aims to facilitate communication between residents and their waste service providers, ensuring that challenges are promptly addressed and services are consistently delivered.

He further observed that the investigation revealed a surprising fact: many residents were unaware of who their PSP operators were or how to contact them. This lack of knowledge made it nearly impossible for residents to communicate or address any issues related to service provision.

“By providing residents with easy access to information and a direct line of communication with their PSP operators, we are making it easier for them to report issues and request services. This streamlined approach will help us address concerns more efficiently and ensure that waste collection services meet the needs of all residents”, he said.

The head of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has urged residents to refrain from indiscriminately dumping waste and using the services of banned cart pushers. He warned that such practices could exacerbate environmental problems in the city, particularly flooding, as the rainy season begins. He emphasized the importance of proper waste disposal to mitigate these challenges and protect the metropolis.
