In a shocking turn of events, the Nigeria Police have confirmed that the suspects behind the daring hijacking of a DAF SF Truck loaded with 40,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on the Ohodo-Opi Road in Igbo-Etiti LGA were, in fact, dismissed police officers. The incident, which occurred on May 29, 2024, has raised serious concerns about  security and the integrity of those who once served to protect.

 Following a meticulous operation, authorities successfully rescued a hijacked driver and motor boy, apprehending several suspects in the process. Among those arrested were former Inspector Otache Egbe, former Inspector Abah Solomon, and former Sergeant James Mamah. The operation, marked by its precision and coordination, led to the safe recovery of the victims and the capture of the perpetrators, highlighting the dedication and skill of the law enforcement team involved.

The investigation unearthed a trove of critical evidence: two AK-47 rifles, 105 rounds of ammunition, and an array of security uniforms. This discovery painted a vivid picture of the clandestine operations under scrutiny. The seized items, each carrying a story of potential violence and deception, underscored the gravity of the ongoing inquiry, revealing a complex web of illicit activities poised to disrupt peace and security.

The Police have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to rooting out crime, demonstrating their dedication through a recent operation. This effort underscores their resolve to eliminate criminal elements, regardless of past associations.

 The captured suspects have admitted to their crimes and are currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). Authorities are actively working to recover the stolen Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The suspects are expected to face prosecution in court soon.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to forging strong partnerships with all stakeholders to combat crime effectively.
