Determined to discover young talents and nurture them to great photographers, Mathew Okwori, the Chief Executive Officer, Kodakhotshots photography, recently organised training at his Mega Plaza studio Victoria lsland Lagos.
The Cross-River State born and Global Photographer said training is to empower and equip the younger generation.”
It is also to help these young artistes fulfill their passion and dreams. l feel fulfilled because l want them to be self-reliant through art for them to imbibe that spirit of entrepreneurship, which makes them job creators instead of seekers.”
Okwori disclosed that the students are taken through fundamentals of photography, landscape, embassy passport, portrait photography, passport, photo shot session, traveling videos, wedding, house warming, music and home videos, photography among others for individuals, corporate organizations and top government executives at different events.”
“We teach them on editing, how to handle different equipment, lightnings, cameras lens and provide backups so they don’t disappoint their clients, we deliver good jobs and prompt services.”
The efforts is to boost to creativity photography world and create more opportunities for new entrants.To equip more youths in the country with the right skills to thrive in the creative industry.He added that the Photography Training reduces unemployment and enhance wealth creators in the creative industry. We teach them the business angles and negotiations to remain in business and assist them to different levels.
The facilitator disclosed that the youths were trained on comprehensive photography, movie production and other related vocational skills, includes digital cinematography, production management, still photography, editing lightings and production, among others.
In terms of those l have trained in the past, I have had a few career highlights , l have training over 20 professional photographers and young talented photographers who are still in schools but I want to horn their hobbies, skills and careers.
Despite the challenges photographers face in the society, Mathew said, we need to embrace creativity. It has come to stay. lt is how you can use it positively in the society. There is a future in photography, it is just the way our society sees it. It will surely get better despite the challenges”.
According to him, My work is inspired by God’s love for beautiful humans, cultures, nature, my environment,Telling my Africa stories from good pictures through African heritage and identity. I am blessed by God with photography as I discovered it early in life.
The Nigerian Lagos based photographer has a degree in Accountancy from University of Lagos disclosed that photography arts has always been his passion and the self-taught photographer has a career of over 20 years.
