Monarch Fetes Hearing Impairment Children, Tasks For Special Schools By Cleopatra Eki }{ The Scoper Media

 

     As part of the activities to put smiles on faces and empower the special persons in the community through selfless service. Oba Olukunmi Olusegun Akingbola of Oregun land, Lagos, organises a get- together hangout for 60 deaf children, including parents and caregivers. They appreciate his kind gestures .The event with the theme ‘’The Kings Guests’’ held at Dr. Finik Park Oregun, Lagos.

The Monarch also advocates for more special schools in the country to carter for these special population.He observes that these special persons are not adequately cartered for in the society, since “there is Ability in Disability.” He champions for credible, knowledgeable and caring leaders in all helms of affairs,and implement these policies and programmes.

Earlier in this year, the Monarch has donated a space for sign language class in his palace to encourage the hearing impairment persons in the community. Treasure Uchegbu convener Speaking Fingers Network said the social interactive event, enables special children, parents and others to play, network and learn from other clusters of disability and families.

The event includes, games time, whot, Ayoi, Ludo, music, Public presentation, drinks and refreshment. Mr Dayo Omotoye a father and president of the hearing impairment disability group urges parents to be observant of their children to notice any form of disability early in life.

According to the father of four children with one disability among them said he observed his son Kehinde at age six months but today he is seventeen years old boy, we have been able to carter for him over the years with different support. He charges government and stakeholders to care more for clusters of persons with disability adequately instead of lip service.

Mrs Ruth Osas Adejumo, Chief Executive Officer Ruthy Essentials disclosed that she has a daughter of ten years with hearing impairment, but she discovered her hearing challenge at age two, but with the support of schools,

Speaking Fingers NGO and others have helped them to weather the storm. She urges parents and care givers to show more love and attention to special children than their other siblings. Another special guest, Mr Abiola Adenuga, Education and Library Service Abule -Egba taught the clusters of special persons moral instructions through Holy Scriptures using story- telling and characters.

He was also assisted through Sign Language interpreter – Victoria Alatise. Mr Oghenerueme Alex Chief Executive Officer, Disability lssues Blogger wants the media to create more awareness and enlightenment on matters of disability.
