Preparations are on top gears to celebrate the Annual Sports Day for the Blind with a theme :Breaking Barriers – Vision Beyond Sight Lagos, Nigeria.
The Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind (FNSB), Oshodi, Lagos, announces her 26th Annual Sports Day, scheduled for May 23rd at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Centre Yaba, Lagos, by 10am.
The Chief host and FNSB chairman council , Mr Fusi Akinkugbe made the call at VTC Oshodi Lagos. He said “as we approach our 70th anniversary in 2025, we reflect on our journey of over seven decades of training and empowering the blind community in Nigeria.”
We look forward to a day filled with sports, unity, and the breaking of barriers.
Akinkugbe appealed to governments and stakeholders to support the sports event for blind. He has stressed the need for equal opportunities and inclusiveness for people living with Disabilities,they need empathy, love and support.
Speaking Mrs Ayopeju Njideaka, chairman Board of Governors, Vocational Training Center for the blind, disclosed that established in 1955, FNSB has been dedicated to providing hope, support, and opportunities for individuals facing the challenges of blindness and visual impairment.
According to her, This year’s event, themed “Breaking Barriers: Vision Beyond Sight,” aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the visually impaired and to educate the community on the importance of eye care.
The event will also serve as a platform to celebrate the resilience, strength and potential of visually impaired individuals.

To grace the event is the immediate Commissioner for Education in Lagos State, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission and other dignitaries.
