Herbert Wigwe is no pushover when it comes to financing, economics and banking-related issues. if he speaks on policymaking, finance, risk management and economics with his repertoire of knowledge backed by years of quality experience, he is qualified to be referred to as an institution. He does not need to prove to naysayers right or wrong, his intimidating records are there to speak volumes of his pedigree and achievements laced with the astronomic rise of Access bank to one of Nigeria’s financial powerhouse.
After taking over from his closest ally and business partner, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank in 2014, many doubted his competence to succeed. The Accounting graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, loves to work hard and play hard. He has played a more active part in the promotion of the Polo game in Nigeria. Last month, Wigwe played a pivotal role at the official opening of the Lagos Polo Club in Ikoyi Lagos as one of the financiers. He also spoke on the need to take the game to another level which is another way to attract sports tourism and polo tournaments in Nigeria.
