Two young boys, Shehu and Maube, managed to escape from their kidnappers’ den in the Kaduna Forest after the bandits fell into a deep slumber. The Daily Trust reported that the bandits had indulged in wines and liquors before dozing off, inadvertently providing an opportunity for the boys to make their daring escape.
Shuaibu Aliyu, a resident of the Janjala community, recounted the incident with admiration, stating, “The bandits tied both hands and legs of one of the boys, while the other one was not tied. So, after the bandits slept off, the other boy quietly untied his brother, and they both escaped.”
The two boys, along with their livestock (cows and sheep), had been kidnapped by the bandits from Kuchimi village in Kaduna State. The abduction had raised concerns among the local community and authorities, who had been working tirelessly to combat the growing menace of banditry in the region.
SP Hassan Mansur, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, has yet to respond to the SMS sent to his phone regarding the incident. However, troops stationed at Kagarko town have been informed about the situation and are expected to take appropriate action to ensure the safety of the escaped boys and their livestock
