The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) has arrested three suspects who specialise in vandalising railway track slippers in Nassarawa State.

In a statement, the National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the corps, Babawale Afolabi, said that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off by members of the public.

The CG’s SIS promptly swung into action to foil the activities of the three suspects and apprehend them.

“We were alerted through an intelligence tip-off that some economic saboteurs of government efforts at revamping the rail transport sector have vandalised some rail tracks.

“Without wasting time we swung into action and intercepted the truck and the following suspects were arrested:

Aliyu Abdullahi (M) 45 years, Douglas David (M) 33 years and Abdulsalam Lawal (M) 26 years.

“The suspects were arrested at Keffi flyover in Nassarawa State while conveying a truckload of railway slippers in very large quantities

“In ensuring that justice is served the suspects are currently in our custody and will be charged to court at the end of a thorough investigation.

“Some of the suspects are already co-operating with us in our investigation and we will not spare anyone who is connected with the unscrupulous business no matter who the individuals are…. We will fish them out,” Afolabi further explained.

Recall that in December last year, NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command also arrested two vandals of railway infrastructure and 11 illegal miners.

The two railway vandals were arrested by the Operatives of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Unit of the command for wilfully vandalising rail tracks and traffic lights in Wuye Area of the territory
