In a bid to ensure the safety of both personnel and the public, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the esteemed Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has issued a firm directive to the dedicated truck drivers within the agency’s fleet. With an emphasis on adherence to safe driving practices, Dr. Gbadegesin underscores the importance of compliance, cautioning that failure to do so may result in severe consequences, including possible dismissal. This proactive approach not only prioritizes safety but also reinforces a culture of responsibility and accountability among LAWMA’s workforce, ultimately contributing to a cleaner, safer Lagos for all.
With unwavering determination, he announced a new era of accountability, where stringent measures would be enforced. These measures ranged from dismissal and legal action to suspension and financial penalties, tailored to the severity of the offense. Henceforth, employees would face the consequences, ensuring a safer and more responsible work environment for all.
He said: “Henceforth, reckless road behaviour and breach of safe driving rules and regulations will attract very stiff penalties, including the possibility of dismissal, among other sanctions. The safety of our drivers, residents and other road users remains our priority in the course of daily operations. We are working relentlessly to ensure that our truck drivers discharge their duties in a manner that will not endanger the lives of people in the state.”
