LAWMA Celebrates 2024 With Christmas Carol And Year-End Thanksgiving Celebration : The Scoper Media

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) recently held its annual Christmas Carol and End-of-Year Thanksgiving Service at its headquarters in Ijora-Olopa, reflecting on the year’s blessings and showing gratitude for God’s mercies. The event brought together LAWMA’s management team, staff, neighbors, friends, and well-wishers in a festive and prayerful atmosphere.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for the authority’s success in the past year despite numerous challenges. “Today is not a day for speeches but for praises and thanksgiving,” he said. “I thank God for His mercies and blessings upon the staff of LAWMA. May He continue to preserve us as we dedicate our time to service.”

According to the press statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs, Kadiri Folashade (Mrs.), it states that the service, filled with joyous carols and prayers, served as a time of reflection and thanksgiving for the progress and achievements of the year, while also looking forward to continued success and divine guidance in the year ahead.

The official commended the staff for their unwavering support and dedication, encouraging them to continue their excellent work. In his holiday message, he extended warm wishes to the residents of Lagos, wishing them a joyful Christmas and a prosperous New Year. He also took the opportunity to remind the public of their role in maintaining the city’s cleanliness, urging them to fulfill their responsibilities towards the environment. By actively supporting the government’s efforts, he emphasized, residents can help create a cleaner, more livable Lagos for all.

Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, Executive Director of Finance, expressed his gratitude to God for sparing the lives of LAWMA staff and allowing them to partake in this year’s thanksgiving service. He emphasized the importance of continual praise for divine protection and blessings.

He also acknowledged the significant contributions of Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin in enhancing waste management efforts in the state, fostering a cleaner, more people-friendly environment.

In his sermon, centered on the theme “With a Grateful Heart,” the chapel’s president, Mr. Olawumi Oluwaseyi, urged attendees to consistently express gratitude to God for His protection and mercy. He prayed for God’s continued grace, committing every member of the authority into His hands for guidance and blessing in the coming year.

The day’s first Bible reading was delivered by the LAWMA Managing Director, who read from Genesis 3:8-15, followed by the Executive Director of Finance, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, who read from Genesis 22:15-18.

Several other management staff members also participated by reading scripture, including Mrs. Folashade Kadiri, Head of Public Affairs; Mr. Adewumi Adetona, Head of Advocacy; Dr. Essien Nsuabia, Head of Waste Management Development Research; Mrs. Opayemi Abimbola, Head of Commercial Services; Mrs. Bola Adewumi, Head of LAWMA Academy; and Dr. Modupe Okoh, Head of Medical Services, Health, and Safety, among others. Their collective participation reflected a spirit of unity and devotion during the event.
