On Tuesday, May 21, the Senate officially confirmed Rimini Makama and Abraham Oshadami as the newest Executive Commissioners of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Makama, known for her expertise in public relations and stakeholder engagement, will step into the role of Executive Commissioner for Stakeholders Management. Meanwhile, Oshadami, with his extensive background in engineering and technical operations, will serve as the Executive Commissioner for Technical Services. Their appointments mark a significant move aimed at bolstering the leadership of Nigeria’s telecommunications regulatory body.

Following thorough scrutiny by the Senate’s Committee on Communications, the nominees have been confirmed. During a plenary session, the committee’s recommendations were presented by Senator Aliyu Bilbis of Zamfara Central. The Senate reviewed and approved the candidates based on the committee’s detailed report.

In a tale of merit and endorsement, Bilbis recognized Makama and Oshadami as perfect fits for their roles. With unanimous committee support, their nominations sailed through the Senate via a resounding voice vote, orchestrated by none other than Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
