Malawi has plunged into a state of national mourning following the tragic death of Vice President Saulos Chilima in a devastating plane crash. The accident, which claimed the lives of several other prominent figures, has left the nation in deep sorrow. Chilima’s untimely demise marks a significant loss for the country, casting a somber shadow over Malawi as it grapples with the sudden void in its leadership.
On Monday morning, Mr. Chilima and nine others vanished from airport radars while flying within the country. Their aircraft, last seen on radar screens, mysteriously disappeared, sparking a widespread search and growing concerns over their fate.
Amidst turbulent skies, a military aircraft battled fierce weather conditions, as reported by aviation authorities.
By Tuesday afternoon, President Chakwera announced that the Malawi Defence Force commander had confirmed the successful completion of the search and rescue mission. The missing plane had been located, marking the end of a tense and exhaustive operation.
In April 2024, Nigerian prophet Primate Elijah Ayodele issued a poignant prophecy concerning Malawi. He urged the nation to pray fervently to avert an impending national calamity that would plunge the country into mourning. His prophetic words have since gained attention, especially in light of recent events that seem to align with his dire warning.
These were his words:
‘’Malawi: the president’s efforts will not be appreciated despite all his efforts to stabilise the economy. The opposition will frustrate his efforts and he will have compounded issues in his party. The country’s currency will continue to depreciate and the country will have troubles from natural disasters. The president needs to pray for his good health and electricity will be challenging for them. Let them pray against calamity that will bring the country to mourn.’’
