A heartbreaking video has shown the moment a young man resorted to flogging someone believed to be his father.
The clip shows the man wielding two canes and vigorously lashing the elderly man until he runs inside the house.
Other people present at the scene made feeble attempts to stop the assault.
It is not clear what led to the incident. It was speculated that it had to do with the issue of infidelity on the part of the father, but this could not be ascertained.
Many people commenting on the video opined that whatever the father did, there was no justification for the young man to raise his hand against him so viciously.
Some viewers also queried whether the man was actually the father of the aggressor, but others pointed out that even if he was not, so long as he was old enough to be, he ought not to have raised his hand against him.
The elderly man could not fight back and could not have withstood the strength of the young man.
