…..As IGP Orders In-Depth Probe into Potential Security Threats and Networking Activities

In a significant anti-cybercrime operation, the Nigeria Police Force has apprehended 130 suspects, including 113 foreign nationals and 17 Nigerians, allegedly involved in cybercrimes and hacking activities that threaten national security. The suspects, primarily of Chinese and Malaysian descent, were caught in a well-coordinated raid targeting a building in Abuja’s Next Cash and Carry area, Jahi. Police revealed that the 87 foreign men and 26 women, alongside their Nigerian accomplices (4 men and 13 women), had been using sophisticated equipment and computers to carry out these high-level cyber offenses. This operation underscores the police’s commitment to cracking down on digital crime and safeguarding the nation’s security.

On Saturday, November 3, 2024, a high-stakes operation led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Benneth Igweh from Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, culminated in the arrest of 130 suspects linked to cybercrime and national security threats. Coordinated by officers from the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 Command and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC), the raid demonstrated the strength of inter-agency collaboration against digital crime. The team targeted a building in Abuja’s Jahi district, where the suspects—using advanced tech tools—allegedly conducted sophisticated hacking activities. This decisive action highlights the NPF’s commitment to dismantling networks that endanger the nation’s security.

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation and scientific analysis of the evidence seized from the suspects. Once the investigation is complete, the suspects will face formal charges in court. This meticulous approach aims to ensure that every element of the case is prepared to support the prosecution of those involved in these high-level cybercrimes.

The public will be kept informed of key findings as the investigation unfolds. Authorities have assured that timely updates will be shared, ensuring transparency and keeping citizens aware of progress in this significant cybercrime case.

Thanks.
