The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs, Mr. James Sule, has acknowledged exceptional performances by dedicated officials of the Ministry, who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in the handling and execution of assigned tasks within the year.
He made this known, according to a statement by the Deputy Director, Press and Information, Mr Bolaji Kazeem, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), during the historic 2024 Civil Service Reward and Recognition event for 13 officers, organized by the Ministry to celebrate its staff at the Education Conference Hall, Federal Secretariat, Phase 3, Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary said their emergence as winners is a testament to the fact that they have done well in fulfilling their roles, developing new initiatives, creativity, and exhibiting unwavering dedication in the service to the Ministry and the Nation at large.
“Today’s celebration is of significant importance to us as a Ministry as it reflects our commitment to nurturing a culture of excellence, diligence, and integrity. It is therefore, in tandem with the provisions of the Public Service Rule (PSR) 060102 which states that “the Reward and Recognition System (R & RS) is a motivational tool that is deployed to improve work ethic and performance in the Service,” Sule said.
He pointed out that the Performance Management System (PMS) in all MDAs provided that there shall be a clear link between Performance Management outcomes/results and rewards, noting that employee performance shall largely be used in determining rewards and recognition.
Sule told the recipients that “Your selection for today’s Awards is not by any means a coincidence, but a result of a painstaking process that involved careful and impartial assessment of process bringing to fore, your maximum level of performance, initiatives, zeal, dedication to duties and obligation in the achievement of the Ministerial deliverables. Today’s recognition is proof of the fact that hard work, integrity, and commitment do not go unnoticed.”
The Permanent Secretary further assured the rest of the staff that their contributions are equally valued as every one plays a critical role in the Ministry’s success(es), and urged them to continue to continue to strive for higher standards towards improving the Ministry and rendering service to the nation.
