The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has unveiled its Centre of Excellence in Abuja, marking a significant stride towards bolstering the nation’s digital economy. This initiative aims to cultivate the technical and vocational skills of Nigerians, equipping them with the expertise necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
At the launch, Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, emphasized the critical role of collaboration in transforming this initiative into a groundbreaking success for the entire continent. His impassioned speech highlighted how collective effort and unity could propel this endeavor to new heights, making it a beacon of progress and innovation for Africa.
“My expectation is that NCC will collaborate with more stakeholders to make this initiative a true centre of excellence for Africa. There is no society in the world that can prosper without connectivity. The connectivity requires humans for its proper functioning,” he stated.
Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, praised the remarkable facility dedicated to Nigerian radio engineers. He highlighted its importance in advancing the skills and capabilities of professionals in the field, emphasizing the center’s role in fostering innovation and excellence within the industry.
“This is the first time in Nigeria when our radio engineers will have the opportunity to come and touch and feel what a radio looks like,” he said.
He elaborated on how the Centre’s initiatives in the 5G era would usher in unprecedented innovations and equip individuals with cutting-edge skills.
“We would actually see a lot of innovations through this Centre,” Maida added.
