Veteran Photojournalist and former Chief Photographer, Guardian newspaper, Olola Oseni Yusuf is dead.

According to a press statement signed by the secretary, Guild of Photojournalists Nigeria, Comrade Tayo Odusanya, it states. With heavy heart and sense of sobriety, the Guild of Photojournalists Nigeria announces the passing away of a veteran, colleague, brother and friend, Olola Oseni Yusuf who died in the early hours of Sunday March 11,2022 after a brief illness.

He was aged 75 years .

Oseni’s contributions to the development of photojournalism in Nigeria is immense and cannot be overemphasised as one of the foundation members of the Photojournalists Association of Nigeria .

He retired as the Chief Photographer at Guardian Newspaper many years ago after meritorious service and mentored a lot of young people who are well placed today..

According to the Chairman of the association, Mr Abiodun Ajala “Olola was a morally upright man, full of life, jovial and candid in his views.

“As photo editors, we had a great and cordial relationship and until his death we shared a lot of ideas together.

“He epitomised good leadership and hard work”

Olola, as fondly called by colleagues, was a thorough bred professional and great team player.

The community of photojournalists will definitely miss his fatherly role and advisory.

We, therefore sympathise with the wife, children and family left behind and pray that the Lord grant them strength to bear the loss.

May the soul of the departed rest in peace . Amen
