Asisat Oshoala, the Super Falcons striker continues to break records in the African female football, reports thescopermedia.com.
Weeks after becoming first Footballer in Africa, male or female, to be named Footballer of the Year for five times, the Barcelona striker on Friday, 12 August, 2022 became the first Female footballer from Africa to be nominated for the female Ballon d’Or award.
Asisat’s name was conspicuous on the list of shortlisted female footballer for the award. She had a very stellar season winning the Pichichi award for the highest scorer in the Spanish Female Football League despite playing only 19 games as a result of injuries while she also steered Barcelona to the final of the UEFA Female Champions League where they lost to Olympique Lyon.

Barcelona and Super Falcons’ striker Asisat Oshoala has earned a nomination for the 2022 Ballon d’Or Award where the former Arsenal forward will go into battle with 19 other female stars.
Asisat Oshoala has recorded her name in the history books of African football and the Nigerian striker will now be hoping to win the award for the first time. In the history of football, no Nigerian player both male and female has ever won the Ballon d’Or award before.
