Concerned Residents of Badore, Lagbasa and Addo environs have been lamenting over heap of refuses lacing the medians of the roads and the all parts of Lagos State.
They observed that refuses consist of decomposed food items,, household equipment , stuff, sharp objects waste products clothes ,old books, among others dumped on the roads However, some of the litters found themselves on the big potholes.
According to them, Some persons carry their refuses from homes,offices plazas, markets to drop on the road side. While persons, shop owners and passersbys lament about smells from trashes.
One single mother, Mrs. Kadri, a resident told The Scoper that they are already sick of the filfy environment worsened by the by the blocked drainage, it is as if all the fifth from Badore/Addo is washed onto the major road.
She complained that LAWMA officials do not come out regularly to pack off the refuses, sometimes the officials are overwhelmed by heaps of refuses especially during the public holidays.
Speaking to Landlord, Mr. Jimoh said when if is was heavy breeze or rains; people use that opportunity to empty bins and waste on the flood to flow their areas. He lamented that the ugly situation has remain an eye sore to members of the communities and passersbys.
He observed that there are number of beggars who sit on the road mediens do their daily routine there and are fed by good Lagosians, also generate a lot of wastes, from food packs, pet bottles rubber, cultery litters with faeces, urine on the potholes and road mediens.
A residents of the area, Mama Kadijat said the people of the area have waited long enough without any of the government intervention but it is a shame that government will not cater properly for the beggars, refuses and nor repair the road.
She said that “it is sad and shameful, that the area lack good representatives in government, but she allegedly that the people are not representing us but they are only after what they will eat and their pockets.”
In addition, there are bad noticeable portions opposite the Access Bank road after Total near filling station by Sign board bustop. Another bad portion of the road is Akins bustop are still in poor states despite previous patches by groups and regular lron man who does community jobs on various parts of that road
Residents and motorists who ply the route lament that the government has neglected the road for too long Despite constant cries and lamentations in media prints and electronic [newspaper, radio and TV] calling the repairs on bad portions of the Addo / Badore Ajah- Lekki Lagos. Many of them have continued to speak against the state government and officials representing the area in different political offices.
A tricycle man, Mr. Adeola Babatunde said we saw some government laborers pouring of sand and strong stones on the road to solve the situation but those stones are affecting my tyres. He plys the road regularly, said the state of the road, it is worsen when there is flood or down pour there is little or nothing to do to salvage the situation.
Accompany every bad road spots is attendance gridlock wasted man-hours, the tool on vehicles and avoidable accidents that sometimes lead to death on the road. These people are termed “untouchable and powerful” and the poor will only lament and cry with no headway. However, others say we should not blame government for every flood, but they should desist from human-induced disasters with such harmful activities.
