RESWAYE, Olori Hadiza Elegushi Donate Gifts And Fed Muslim Women In lkate ~ The Scoper Media

    Over 400 Hausa Muslim women and children from lkate costal communities receive gifts items and were fed by Recycling Scheme for Women and Youth Empowerment (RESWAYE) and stakeholders.

   The event organised by RESWAYE in conjunction with Olori Hadiza Yakasai Elegushi, wife of Monarch HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi and Chevron Experates.

These Muslim women and children after Juma’h prayers on Friday 4pm converge to have fun time with other families and friends at the Kids Beach Gardens Elegushi Private Beach Lekki Lagos.

The Kids Beach Gardens is designed with beautiful trees and flowers with play areas for families and friends relaxation. Earlier on, some of the families, children joined RESWAYE team to clean the Beach shorelines with caution.

The muslim families were served with healthy jollof rice with boiled and fried eggs and were later given gifts items such as Eva soap, detergents, noddles, Always sanitary towels to women and while exercise books , pencils , Ribena drinks to the children.

Doyinsola Ogunye, Convener and founder RESWAYE disclosed that the event is a unique one since they have the presence of Her Royal Majesty delectable Olori Yakasai Elegushi fetes with the women and families and join in the Kids Beach Gardens clean up.

According to her, the Friday event feeding programme has been organised by RESWAYE for over 5years.
She disclosed that some Muslim Hausa women and youth are members of the RESWAYE women from low-income communities in the axis Ibeju Lekki who bring plastics and earn an income while doing something useful around their environment.

She appreciated the stakeholders for working tirelessly to reduce the wastage and keep the costal and environments clean and safer. Among communities involve are Owode, Badore, Osoroko, Ikate, Akodo, Folu and others.

Ogunye further disclosed that the project and recyclable materials from women and youths have been used to empower and encourage a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

The waste that washes upon the shores of coastal communities is an eyesore that makes life unpleasant for aquatic animals. She cautioned beach lovers and tourists to manage plastic waste never to throw them on the sea or lagoon because they will come to shore and fishes and other aquatic animals swallow and choke on them.
She appreciated delectable Olori Hadiza Yakasai Elegushi, Chevron Experates and others for the food donations to the women and children.

Speaking the Olori Hadiza Yakasai Elegushi although hailed from the North is elated interact and relate with Hausa Muslim community as friends, family members with love ,one voice and language.
The monarch wife commended “Recycling Scheme for Women and Youth Empowerment(RESWAYE) for her relentless effort of engaging communities to reduce the increase of pet bottles, plastics, bottles take aways packs, rubbers cutlery usage in coastal and environment , which is a huge task managing country waste.”

His Royal Highness, Chief Ganiyu Olalekan Bakare Aro Oba Elegushi of lkate land and Environmentalist disclosed that he has been part of RESWAYE projects as a partner and stakeholder and to support the vision of a cleaner, healthy coastal environment.

According to him, managing global warming and climate change and flooding are major problems, they are capital intensive and need collective effort by all stakeholders to combat them.
Chief Bakare disclosed that he has been a supportive partner to RESWAYE in recycling spaces over the years in line with the Substainable Development Goals 11 13, 14 and 15 namely, Sustainable cities, Climate Action, life Below water and Life on Land.

Mrs Temitope Edu, Human resources executive and environmental advocate who came with her daughter Isabella Edu a student St Saviour School and 6 friends join in the beach cleaning and interacting with the Hausa Muslim women and children.

Edu said she is concerned by the environment cleaning, global warming, flood and climate change affect us in the country and globally. We have to work collectively to care for our areas not leaving for organization like RESWAYE alone. Isabella Edu also disclosed that she is taught recycling at school and practice at home and in her estate.

The muslim women thanked RESWAYE and delectable Olori Hadiza Yakasai Elegushi for the gifts. They were elated and appreciative for the kind gesture Some of them join other team to clean up Folu Beach community lbeju Lekki recently.
