In a significant move to enhance efficiency of bill payments, the Lagos State Government has introduced the Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP), an online platform aimed at streamlining non-tax payments for residents and businesses alike. The announcement was made by Abdul-Kabir Ogungbo, Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, during a press briefing held at Revenue House in Alausa, Ikeja.
Ogungbo emphasized that the launch of the LRP is a key component of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people of Lagos. This new platform modernizes the way revenue is managed by providing a self-service portal that consolidates various payment processes into one user-friendly interface.
The event is set to officially launch on Thursday, August 15, 2024, the LRP will revolutionize payment procedures by integrating bills and payments from multiple Ministries, Departments, and Agencies into a single online location.
Users will enjoy the convenience of managing, printing, and paying their bills from the comfort of their homes or offices, utilizing various payment methods such as credit/debit cards, bank transfers, POS, USSD, and QR codes.
This innovation significantly reduces the need for in-person visits to service stations and banks, thereby saving time and enhancing convenience.
Ogungbo stated, “The LRP guarantees secure and efficient payment processing.Users will receive instant receipts for successful transactions, and the portal includes a validation system to ensure the authenticity of these receipts, safeguarding against errors and fraud. Additionally, it offers easy registration for both individuals and businesses, along with features for payment amendments and reversals to swiftly resolve any issues.”
A standout feature of the LRP is its comprehensive payment history view, allowing users to access and download their transaction records effortlessly. The portal is designed for accessibility via both web and mobile applications, ensuring users can manage their payments on the go. Its architecture is built for scalability, robustness, and data integrity, all while adhering to privacy regulations.
By centralizing revenue management, the LRP aims to simplify business operations in Lagos, enhance the taxpayer experience, and promote transparency. This initiative marks a significant leap forward in the state’s revenue administration, aligning with the government’s objectives of boosting compliance and delivering efficient services.
In closing, Ogungbo remarked, “As the LRP evolves, the Lagos State Government is dedicated to continuous improvements to better serve its citizens and businesses.”
