A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a commercial sex worker to death at Kwanawa located in the Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of Sokoto state.

Punch was informed by local sources that the victim was a resident of one of the brothels located within the region, which is well-known for a variety of illegal operations. The During the struggle that broke out between them after the victim refused the N1000 that the customer handed her, it was gathered that the customer reportedly killed the victim by stabbing her to death with a knife.

A source said it was the alarm raised by the neighbours around the hotel and passers-by that drew the attention of the people that caught captured the suspect as he tried to flee away after realizing that the victim was dead. DSP Sanusi Abubakar, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, verified the event to Punch and stated that the suspect claimed to be a researcher who was in Sokoto State to carry out research.

According to Abubakar, the suspect had planned to spend the night with the victim’s brother, but Abubakar stated that trouble began when the suspect handed the victim N1,000. According to the PPRO, the victim turned down the money, which led to a dispute between her and the suspect.

According to the spokesperson, the suspect claimed that the victim allegedly brought out a knife that he (the suspect) used to stab her multiple times after he overpowered her.
