This is less than 24 hours after he led the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to commiserate with the Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and the people of the State over the recent devastating flooding that wreaked havoc on homes, businesses, hospitals and schools.

“Yesterday, I joined a delegation of the Federal Government led by Vice President Kashim Shettima to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the internally displaced persons (IDPs)’s camp in Gwada, Shiroro local government area of Niger State. The Vice President delivered the President’s message of support and solidarity to the government of Niger State, especially the victims of recent flood and security concerns in parts of the state,” Governor Abdulrazaq said.

In the sympathy and assessment visit, Vice President Shettima, Governor Abdulrazaq, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris and others were received by the Governor of Niger State Mohammed Bago who took them to the Central Primary School Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area, one of the 14 IDP camps spread across the State.

Speaking, Vice President Shettima commiserated with Governor Bago and the people of the State especially those affected by the insecurity and natural disaster. Shettima said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration was aware of the challenges the internally displaced persons in the State are grappling with and that plans are in top gear to ameliorate their suffering in no time.

The Vice President said the federal government would ensure the IDPs return to their homes. He also revealed that the federal government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, has given states funds to address the issue of destructive flooding.

The IDPs were offered food items and some non-consumable materials. Aside from these supports, the federal government would further synergise with the Borno State government and NEMA to mitigate the sufferings of the people. He added that states like Niger, Borno, Sokoto, Bayelsa and Jigawa would receive more intervention from the government in this trying time.

The entourage of Vice President Kashim Shettima include His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, Minister for State, Agriculture and Food Security, Abdullahi Sabi, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President Ibrahim Hadejia, and the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar.
