In a chilling development, Kwara State Police have apprehended Atolagbe Yemi Oje for the brutal rape and murder of Mayowa Ajiboye, a local palm oil seller, in an apparent ritual killing. BARBARIC ACT UNVEILED
The incident, described by Kwara State Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya as ‘barbaric’, came to light when the suspect, after initially refusing to supply firewood agreed upon for N1,600 last November, encountered Mayowa Ajiboye and her daughter in the bush on February 22, 2024. Under the guise of assisting them, Oje led Ajiboye deep into the bush with a sinister motive. After a struggle, he overpowered, raped, and killed her, subsequently attempting to erase the evidence by burning the victim’s remains and disposing of them in a river.

Upon arrest, Oje confessed to the heinous act, stating his motive was for money ritual purposes. He revealed the meticulous steps taken post-murder to avoid detection, including disposing of the victim’s phone and personal items.
