Stakeholders, celebrities have been urged to work together with society to tackle the obstacles, injustices and discrimination that persons with disabilities experience.
Kelly Blind made the call while unveiling lnner Eyes foundation/comedy event held at Away Lounge Badore Ajah Lekki Lagos. AY, Eedris Aldulkeem and other celebrities joined Kelly Blind to unveil the Inner Eyes Foundation.
“Governments should do more for all the persons with disabilities not to pay lip -service. He urged Federal and Niger Delta States governments especially to build Special schools, vocational centres, infrastructures for them”
As an indigene of Niger Delta regions, blessed with the crude Oil but there are no special schools for the blinds, nor for deaf, even vocational training for people with disabilities. Sadly , “most of the people with disabilities are lanquishing and unproductive in that regions . “he said.
According to him, “Since we have over 27million of people living with disabilities in Nigeria, governments have a lot to do to cater for them and yet there are little or no impact to show for Despite the Disability Bills these persons are not well cartered for.
The visually impaired rights crusader, Kelly Blind said unveiling the lnner Eyes Foundation will empower the people with disabilities to drive the course. Promoting inclusion for persons with disabilities means recognizing and protecting their rights.
Kelly Blind disclosed that he has been championing the course of people with disabilities through his radio ” Better Naija” programme Lagos WAZOBIA FM over 7yrs despite stiff opposition from various quarters.
Ovy King described Kelly Blind ,by dint of hand work and discipline with unblemished leadership style as a comedy player that have endeared him to Nigeria and International communities. Eedris Aldulkeem sang his famous song Nigeria jagajaga and Mr Lecturer. to thrilled audience.
A lot of comedians that featured include Mc Sweet mouth extolled Kelly Blind sterling contributions to them and comedy industry despite his disability..
The other were Mc Shakara, Bow joint, Short family, Crazy legs, Mc Mbakara, Mc Mimiko, Mc Ovie,JP Wazi, Spider Rider,Mavis Comedian,Orik Black, Mynd, Anonymous 9ja, Real P Ajabo,Ovy King, Mc Sweet mouth and Makana.
The event featured comedy, fun and music, King live band, food and drinks.Expensive is Master of ceremony of the event.
