…calls for an end to ASUU strike

Gulf Flower International School students in Lagos have called on the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the spate of senseless killings in the country especially by bandits, kidnappers and terrorists.
The students who were guest speakers at a one-day Security Conference organised by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island on Wednesday, urged the federal government to be proactive by developing new strategies to win the hearts of the citizens especially the Nigerian youths.
A representative of the students who delivered a keynote address, Miss Adeboyejo Omotoyosi, said the height of insecurity in the country had reached an exponential and alarming level that requires urgent attention before it snowball into a catastrophe.
According to her, youths across the country are tired of the mindless killings of innocent Nigerians by terrorists, bandits and armed robbers on daily basis.
Omotoyosi reiterated by urging the authorities to be proactive, and provide needed educational facilities in addition to providing enabling security environment aimed at tackling the nation’s security hiatus.
She said: “Our stand is that the federal government needs to be more proactive in dealing with growing spate of insecurity in the country as we cannot continue to witness such mindless killing of Nigerians in their numbers on a daily basis.
“We say today that enough is enough and urged the security agencies to sit up and face the realities of securing us and our future. We have heard so many statements without corresponding action from the government. What we demand now is an end to the massacre of Nigerians under whatever guise.
“We also call on the federal government to earmark more funds to the education sector in 2023 budget in order to end the incessant ASUU strike.”
On parental care for their wards, Omotoyosi called on parents and guardians to devote time, energy and resources to their children and wards, a practice that could dissuade them from linking or joining bad gangs.
Noting that every action has its repercussion, she emphasized that failure to check the activities of the children and who they mingle with could lead to more crimes being committed in the society by some of the children who will become social deviant and misfits in the society.
