According to Vanguard News,A 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, has been detained by the Lagos State Police for allegedly stabbing his wife, Olajumoke, and subsequently setting her body on fire in their residence at Amazing Grace Estate, located in the Elepe community of Ikorodu, Lagos. The tragic incident occurred following a heated argument that erupted between the newlyweds on Friday afternoon around 1 p.m.

Reports indicate that the dispute began when Olaniyi accused his six-month-pregnant wife of infidelity, alleging that his own younger brother was responsible for her pregnancy. Olajumoke, however, firmly denied the accusation. Their argument quickly escalated, leading to the brutal assault. Eyewitnesses report that neighbors were alerted by the commotion but arrived too late to prevent the tragedy from unfolding.

Prior to Friday’s incident, neighbors had reportedly observed tensions between the couple, including a previous physical attack on Olajumoke in her mother’s presence. One neighbor, who requested anonymity, recounted that the couple had only held their traditional marriage three months earlier, at which point Olajumoke was already three months pregnant. “After the marriage, problems started. He constantly accused her of being promiscuous and claimed the child wasn’t his,” the neighbor shared.

The incident has left the Elepe community in shock, with many questioning the circumstances that led to such an extreme act. Police have since launched an investigation to determine the full details of the case and to bring justice for Olajumoke. Local authorities are urging any witnesses or those with relevant information to come forward as they work to complete their investigation.

A neighbor, who pleaded anonymity, said: ‘They did their traditional marriage three months ago when Jumoke was three months pregnant. Then, all of a sudden, problems started.

“He was accusing his wife of being promiscuous. He said the pregnancy she was carrying was not his, but his younger brother’s.
