In an interview with some of the victims of abuse at the Internally displaced persons Camp in Gwada town, Niger State, the Cable spoke with some women who have suffered at the hands of their abductors.
Amongst the victims of the attacks is a 13 year old Blessing Anthony.
Blessing Anthony was among those who were abducted by bandits while she was escaping her village to Gwada Internally Displaced persons Camp in June.
According to Blessings aunt, Christy, she revealed that the bandits who abducted blessing are demanding 1 million Naira and two motorcycles as Ransom. However, she revealed that Blessing’s parents cannot afford to pay the ransom because they are poor farmers struggling to survive.
Christy revealed to the Cable that the bandits threatened to make their daughter Blessing their wife, if they fail to pay them. She noted that the mother of the abducted blessing has been crying since the bandits called them to inform them that they have grown fond of their daughter, and they also told them that they would continue to sleep with her.
Blessing is just one amongst the women and girls who are raped by bandits.
