John Owochukwu, a kinsman of the late Herbert Wigwe, has shared a heartwarming initiative by the Access Bank CEO in Isiokpo, their hometown in Rivers State.
In an interview with AIT, Owochukwu made it known that before the tragic helicopter accident that claimed the lives of Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and their son, Wigwe pledged to address the longstanding issue of electricity scarcity in Isiokpo. He said Wigwe assured the community that electricity would be restored within the week, ending a five-year-long blackout.
He said this commitment extended beyond Isiokpo to benefit the entire Ikwerre Local Government Area, where residents had faced similar challenges.
In Owochukwu’s words: “He told us on Thursday this week light will be on, for 5 years we don’t have electricity here. And this light is not only for Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local government does not even have light but he promised and started doing the work. This is national grid”.
