   It was a gathering of class of celebrities, Entrepreneurs, politicians and above all, who is who in the society at the maiden edition of “Best Awards 2022” organised by the management of Buzz News Media, publishers of Buzz News Magazine and www.buzznews.com.ng held on Saturday November 5, 2022, where many of them bagged different categories of awards.

   The event which witnessed who is who in the society was tagged: “Best Awards 2022 Buzznews Entrepreneur, Security & Technology” held at Presken Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

    The awardees included the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. (Hon.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Iyalaje Oodua, Ambassador (Princess) Dr. Toyin Kolade, Managing Director of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, and the Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Arobieke.

    Others included versatile and accomplished journalist, Mrs. Tosin Ajayi, Olowu of Owu Kuta, Oba Makama Oyelude, Princess Feyikemi Ayoola Egbeyemi, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM), Pastor D.K Olukoya, DSP Israel Adejoh and Queen Bunmi Ajibade (Mama Miliki) amongst several others.

    In her welcome address, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Buzz News Media, Mrs. Funmi Olowosegun said that the idea of the awards was conceived based on the need to honour, encourage and celebrate deserving individuals that have contributed, impacted and endeared immense growth to the Nigerian society in areas including, but not limited to three sectors of Entrepreneurship, Security and Technology.

At Buzznews Media, we believe in total media communications and the need to be part of the development of our country in our own little way.

“Moreso, we have painstakingly considered the diverse plights of women in our peculiar society, which formed the need for the topic of our lecture. Indeed, we believe that our nation has a future and we have a role to play in ensuring that we realise the best for our society at this interesting time,” she said.

   Olowosegun stressed that her desire is to position the award and lecture as an annual event and “continually propel our role as authoritative and investigative journalists in our celebration of excellence and celebrity reportage as much as possible.”

Delivering a lecture on the topic; “The Role Of Women In Strategic Leadership Socio-Cultural Economy and Business Innovations: Issues and Prospects,”  the guest lecturer at the event, Princess Feyikemi Egbeyemi said that time had come for women to position themselves so that they could be part of the economic development of the nation.

Egbeyemi stated that women should not see themselves as liability and that they should prove that they could compete with men.

According to her; “women have been contributing a lot to the development of Nigeria. As a woman, I am involved in so many things and I am an employer of labour as I have many people working with me in my recycling plant.”

   One of the special guest at the event, is the Lagos State House of Assembly Candidate, Ikeja Constituency 01, National Rescue Movement (NRM), Hon. Kola Akinwale who spoke extensively and dwell on the the importance of women in our society with a specific refence to women in politics. That women should also be given that opportunity to participate actively in politics.

    He stated that “Women need more support and opportunities to thrive and continue to achieve in a male dominated society. In the corporate sector and politics for example, there are still not enough women in the forefront and this is not because we do not have capable women, they just need to be afforded more opportunities”

    The awards event witnessed music, dance and celebrations as top comedian, Baba De Baba entertained the guests with rib cracking jokes.
