MTN-GLO DISPUTE: NCC Halts Disconnection Plan, Gives 21 Days To Settle 🎊 The Scoper Media

 

 

Β  Β  The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has put the phased disconnection of Globacom Limited (Glo) on hold for a period of 21 (twenty-one) days from today, 17 January, 2024 after it reached agreement to resolve all outstanding issues with MTN Nigerian Communications Plc. (MTN).

Β In a press release signed by the Director, Public Affairs of the commission, Reuben Mouka, its entitled as: Pre-Disconnection Notice.

The statement reads as follows:

On January 8, 2024, the Nigerian Communications Commission issued a Pre-Disconnection Notice, granting approval to MTN Nigerian Communications Plc. (MTN) to initiate the phased disconnection of Globacom Limited (Glo) from January 18, 2024, due to a long-standing interconnection debt dispute.

In consideration of potential impacts on consumers, the Commission engaged both parties to encourage a resolution prioritizing consumer interests and national telecoms network operation.

Pleased to announce a resolution, the Commission exercises regulatory powers to suspend the phased disconnection for 21 days from January 17, 2024. Emphasizing the necessity for settling interconnect debts, the Commission urges MTN and Glo to resolve outstanding issues within the specified period, emphasizing compliance with regulatory obligations for all telecom industry licensees.
