Nigerian songstress, songwriter and actress, Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, popularly known by her stage name, Simi, is guest on this weekās edition of CNN African Voices Changemakers sponsored by telecommunications company, Globacom.
Simi was born on April 19, 1988 in Lagos. Her career kicked off as a gospel singer, which led to the release of āOgajuā, her debut studio album in 2008. In 2014, she signed a record deal with X3M Music and subsequently released “Tiff”. By 2015, “Tiff” was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies.
By 2017, she released her second studio album āSimisolaā while the third āOmo Charlie Champagneā, Vol. 1 was released to coincide with her thirty-first birthday on April 19, 2019. In June, 2019, Simi launched her record label Studio Brat and the same year she tied the nuptial knots with her equally successful singer husband, Adekunle Gold.
The graduate of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria was appointed as one of the top judges in Season 7 of the Nigerian idol TV show in 2022.
Her other albums include chart-busters include āJoromiā, āKnow Youā,ā Jerichoā and āDudukeā.
