Like the biblical parable of the Marriage Feast in Matthew 22:1-10, about 60 Widows (usually called Jesus Wives) and Single mothers, last Sunday 11th December 2022, gathered at the Living Hope Parish LP 98 Provincial Headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) for a Special Widows & Single Mothers’ Programme which was Special fellowship organised for them.
According to a press release by the
Head, RCCG LP98 Media Crew, Nelson Olagundoye, the occasion was for these “Jesus Wives” to Praise and worship God, listen to the Word of God and also be ministered unto through prayer and some motivational charges . However, the Widows and Single mothers were surprised with an unexpected packages of food items which were given to them.
The programme was organized by Lagos Province 98 Good Women under the leadership of Pastor (Mrs) Helen Adeniyi, Wife of Pastor-in-Charge of the Province.
According to Pastor (Mrs) Adeniyi in her opening remarks to all the Single mothers and the Widows at the event, she said that ‘it is true that the Singles mothers & Widows may have some burdens which require assistance without anyone they can turn to, but she encouraged them to trust in Jesus who will be their Burden Bearer if they turn to Him and allow Him to assist them.
The 60 Special Women, out of many women that are members of Good Women Fellowship within the Province, without any prior knowledge, went home that day with various food items for their Christmas celebration. These included Rice, beans, gari, etc which were distributed to them at the event.
Pastor Adegbola Arole, Assistant Pastor in-Charge RCCG LP98 (CSR) in his word of exhortation titled ‘The Burden Bearer” encouraged these Special Women that only Jesus can be their Burden Bearer. At the end of the Sermon, four of the beneficiaries surrendered their souls to Jesus.
The distribution of the food items was supervised by some wives of the Pastors-in-charge of Zones and Areas including Pastor (Mrs) Orelaja, Pastor (Mrs) Adelaja, Pastor (Mrs) Akinrinmade, Pastor (Mrs) Afe among others.
The Pastor in Charge of LP 98 in person of Pastor Sunday Adeniyi in closing the programme prayed fervently for the Widows and Single mothers. He prophesied that Jesus will continue to be their Burden Bearer. He prayed that support would continue to come to them from sources they never expected as they embrace Jesus as their Burden Bearer.
